Alison Maria Krauss, born July 23, 1971 is an American singer and musician. She started in the industry at the age of a young child, and when she was a mere 10 years old. She signed to Rounder Records in 1985 and recorded her first single album, a solo one in the year 1987. After that, she was asked to be a part of Alison Krauss Union Station, the band she currently performs with. The first album she released as a collective with this band was released in 1989.
