The journalist spent more than a decade reporting on sports for The Washington Post, including football, tennis, and basketball. Nichols has won two Emmy Awards during her nine-year time working for ESPN and appeared on the most watched shows such as NFL Countdown or SportsCenter, changed to ESPN following 2004. It was the only occasion in the award's 42 year tradition that a woman has been nominated amongst the more than 200 nominations.
